You may be surprised to know that the significant progress in dental diagnostic and imaging technology made over the years has resulted in some of the most important advances in the history of modern dentistry – advances that directly benefit patients. The fact is that precision, accuracy, and efficiency in the beginning stages of dental care are critical to ensure you get the best possible treatment and to reduce the risk of complications or unsatisfactory results. Utilizing some of the best available imaging technology here at Weaver and Jaynes Dentistry can go a long way toward achieving that goal.
Our practice recently added the GALILEOS® ComfortPLUS system to our selection of state-of-the-art dental technology. It’s a CBCT machine that takes a 3-Dimensional picture of nearly your entire skull from the neck up. It will be used to scan most patients in order to diagnose dental issues in an extraordinarily clear and precise way. This technology will also be particularly helpful when we plan dental implant surgeries. After the CT-Scan is taken, we merge it’s data with implant planning software. With the combination of the GALILEOS® 3-D scan and advanced dental implant planning software, we then fabricate a surgical guide. This guide allows placement of the implant at exactly the same angle and the same depth as the virtual “treatment” that we performed in the planning stage. Using this intricate planning method, we create an exceptionally detailed digital plan for the placement of dental implants.
The GALILEOS® can also be very advantageous for patients who may be suffering from sleep apnea. The captured image shows airway space and possible constrictions. It also serves as another tool of communication with patients – we can show them their own airway and talk to them about those constrictions. If the airway is constricted, we may recommend tests to confirm it, which can ultimately let the patient know if they are suffering from sleep apnea.
The GALILEOS® ComfortPLUS creates an extremely thorough image, and is good for all types of dental issues, including endodontics and extractions. Ultimately, the GALILEOS® images combined with other advanced technology at our practice allows for faster, more efficient, and much safer treatment.
We are very happy to bring this advanced technology to our practice. It’s one more way the team here at Weaver and Jaynes Dentsitry strives to make your treatment process as accurate, comfortable, and fast as possible!
